How we do New Year's

Our first New Year's Eve together, Tony and I had been married already 3 months which meant I was 2.5 months pregnant and suffering some hellacious morning sickness so our NYE festivities involved him sitting on the couch watching football and me laying in bed trying not to die of nausea. (He did come turn the bedroom TV on in time for me to watch the ball drop and to give me a New Year's kiss.)

Since then we have had small children, and no friends, so we don't go out for NYE or have a party, etc. We stay home, do stuff around the house, watch TV. It's good fun and we don't have to worry about driving home.

This year we treated the kids to a bottle of sparkling apple cider and some kazoos. They stayed up to watch the ball drop on TV. I cleaned house--all the floors were swept, mopped and the living room and kitchen were straightened. Dishes were all washed too! What a great day to start the new year, with a pleasant home. It's been 36 hours however and you can't tell I cleaned anything but that is the way of it.

So this is how we do New Year's at our house. We hope yours was as safe and happy as ours, that you were near some loved one and that the Lord will bless you in the coming days!

  1. Sounds about like ours. Only kids X4 and we did play a game with a couple that came over to hang out. Danced at midnight to "Auld Lang Syne" and went to bed exhausted. Good time!

  2. Your kiddos are cuties! And it made me giggle to see them carrying around their little glasses of "booze" :)
